Following the beatification mass on Saturday in Seoul, Pope Francis visited Keottongnae, or flower village, for people with disabilities.

After arriving in the village located in Eumsung, North Chungcheong Province by helicopter, the pope was greeted by some 30-thousand people gathered there.

Upon entering one of the facilities at the village, the pontiff met with about 200 people with disabilities and volunteer workers. He was then given an embroidered portrait of himself made by a female resident who is paralyzed from the waist down.

Another resident in her mid-70s who has lived in the facility since 1985, gave the pope origami cranes that she crafted with her feet as her upper body is paralyzed.

About four-thousand people with disabilities, along with the homeless and the elderly, live in the village, which is Korea's largest social welfare facility.

The visit came as the founder of the village, Father John Oh Woong-jin made a request to the pope as he was invited to the Vatican last year.
