First visit to the Pentecostal Assemblies of Vietnam
On February 23, 2014 at 9:00 in the morning, seven (7) members of the Inter-faith Dialogue Committee headed by Chairman Fr. Francis Xavier Bao Loc attended the worship and conference of the Pentecostal Assemblies at Elisha Church, # 527/54 Phan Van Tri Street , Ward 5, Go Vap District. They received an invitation from Mr. Rick, a Bible Professor .
After the introduction of the guest speaker by Pastor and Chairman Bui Thanh Se, the assembly stood up to begin the worship by singing praise songs to the Lord, Emmanuel which was led by Miss Truong Nguyen Trang Thi.
The talk of Professor Rick was about the correlation of law and love based on the Old Testament texts of Deuteronomy: 29: 12-19 and Genesis 15. Miss Do Nguyen Nhat Anh, the youth leader translated his sharing into Vietnamese.
Chairman and Pastor Bui Thanh Se conveyed his gratitude to Professor Rick for his presence and sharing.
He summarized the talk that according to the Old Testament one has to keep the law like signing a contract with God or else one has to die but when Jesus came the law becomes meaningless without the love of God. Both law and love must be reconciled in Him.
At the end of the worship, the people offered love offerings and with one voice prayed the Our Father and sang a hymn of Thanksgiving.
Meanwhile, the members of the Inter-faith Dialogue took some photos for posterity sake and the Agape followed.
We hope that the ecumenical relationship between the disciples of Christ in Vietnam will be led by the Holy Spirit so as for them to deepen the spirit of brotherhood.
