The LWF emergency team has begun supporting internally displaced people in northern Iraq in Duhok Governorate in the Kurdish region. LWF Emergency Team Visit, Bring Supplies to Northern Iraq IDPs in Kurdish Region

Through the ACT Alliance emergency appeal, the international humanitarian and development network is providing around USD 1 million for shelter, food, water, non-food items, hygiene kits, and carrying out protection initiatives particularly for women and children.

While many governmental, non-governmental and international organizations are doing their best to provide for their immediate needs, more resources are required to supply the displaced Iraqis and host populations with essential life-saving assistance.

The vast majority of displaced families lodge either within host communities or in IDPs camps. Most of the displaced have fled the Mousal governorate and villages around Mousal such as Sinjar and Talkaf, with nothing more than what they could physically carry with them. As a result, many of the IDPs are suffering from the physical and emotional hardship of having to flee their homes to seek resettlement and leaving everything, including family members behind.
