Christian call to interreligious solidarity during COVID-19 and beyond 27 Jan 2021The annual meeting between staff members of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue (PCID) and the Office of Inter-religious Dialogue and Cooperation (IRDC) of the World Council of Churches (WCC) took place online on 19-20 January 2021. Held during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the meeting was mainly dedicated to reflection on how to intensify ecumenical and interreligious solidarity during the time of pandemic through wider reception and implementation of the document ‘Serving a Wounded World in Interreligious Solidarity: A Christian Call to Reflection and Action During COVID-19 and Beyond.’ Published recently as part of a series of joint publications, the document witnesses to a longstanding partnership and fruitful collaboration between the Holy See and the World Council of Churches.

As we read in the conclusion of the document, “For Christians, interreligious solidarity is a way both of living out Jesus Christ’s commandment to love the other, and also of working with the other to seek peace, which is God’s will for the world.”
