(WCBCV) - June 15th 2013, the Holy See’s Press Office has published information about the appointment of auxiliary bishop for two dioceses of Hưng Hoá and Vinh as follows:


The Holy Father Francis has appointed Father Alphonse Nguyễn Hữu Long, rector of Huế Seminary, as Auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Hưng Hoa (Vietnam), with Gummi di Bizacena titular.

1.  Father Alphonse Nguyễn Hữu Long was born in Hà Nội on January 25, 1953.
From 1965 to 1972: seminarian of St. John's Minor Seminary of Đà Nẵng Diocese
From 1972 to 1978: seminarian of Hòa Bình Major Seminary.
From 1978 to 1982: engaging in civil obligations in Quảng Nam Province.
December 29,1990: ordained a priest for Đà Nẵng Diocese and joined Xuân Bích Association.
From 1990 to 1994: assistant priest of Tam Kỳ Parish, Đà Nẵng Diocese;
From 1994 to 1998: studying canon law in the Catholic Institute of Paris, France; graduated Bachelor of canon law;
From 1999 to 2001: Pastor of Hà Lam Parish, Đà Nẵng Diocese;
From 2001 to 2003: Pastor of Trà Kiệu Parish, Đà Nẵng Diocese;
From 2003 to 2011: Spiritual director and Professor of canon law, church history and catechism teaching in Huế Seminary.
From 2011: Rector of Huế Seminary.
 

 

 

 

 2 . At the same time, Pope Francis also appointed Father Peter Nguyễn Văn Viên, General Vicar of Vinh Diocese, as Auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Pope Francis appointed auxiliary bishop for two dioceses of Hưng Hoá and VinhVinh, with titular Megalopoli di Proconsolare.
Father Peter Nguyễn Văn Viên was born on January 8, 1965 in Hướng Phương, Quảng Bình, Vinh Diocese.
After grade school: student of Huế University, graduated BA in Economics (1987-1992).
1984: implementing the military service.
1993-1999: seminarian of Vinh Thanh Seminary.
October 3, 1999: ordained a priest for the Diocese of Vinh.
2000 - 2009: student of the Catholic Institute of Sydney, Australia; graduated doctorate in theology; served the Vietnamese communities in Sydney.
Since 2009: Deputy Director and Professor of doctrine in Vinh Thanh Seminary.
