“No prophet is honored in his own country” - Monday 3rd of Lent
By Admin Webmaster 2/6/2016 10:31:10 AMToday, we hear Our Lord saying that “No prophet is honored in his own country” (Lk 4:24). These words - uttered by Jesus - have been for many of us - more than once - justification and excuse not to complicate our lives. But, in fact, Jesus Christ, only wants to warn us, his disciples, that things are not as easy as they may look and, more often than not, amongst those supposedly knowing us best, things may still become more difficult. -

By Admin Webmaster 2/6/2016 10:31:10 AMEach time the texts speak of the devil, we feel, maybe, slightly uncomfortable. However, it is true evil exists, and it is so deeply rooted we cannot fully remove it. It is also true evil has a very broad scope: it keeps on “digging” and we simply cannot stop it. Yet, Jesus has come to fight these evil forces, to fight the devil. He is the only one who can drive him out. -

“I tell you, when this man went down to his house, he had been set right with God” - Saturday 3rd of Lent
By Admin Webmaster 2/6/2016 10:31:10 AMToday, Christ presents us with two men who, to a casual observer, might appear almost identical for they are in the same place doing the same thing, as both “went up to the Temple to pray” (Lk 18:10). But beyond appearances, at the deepest level of their personal consciences, both men differ radically: one, the Pharisee, has an easy conscience while the other, the tax collector, is racked by feelings of guilt. -
“Whoever makes himself out to be great will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be raised” - Saturday 3rd of Lent
By Admin Webmaster 2/6/2016 10:31:10 AMIn the passage we are contemplating we see that in each person we can find a knot made of three strings. These three strings cannot be untangled unless each is taken into consideration at the same time. The first string relates to God; the second one to our fellowmen; and the third one to ourselves. Let us look carefully: those Jesus was addressing were “persons fully convinced of their own righteousness, who looked down on others” (Lk 18:9) but who, therefore, were not praying rightly. The three strings are always related to each other! -

Islam: Encouraging Repeat Offenders to Repent
By Admin Webmaster 2/6/2016 10:31:10 AMSome people give up on repentance – in frustration. They commit a sin and repent for it so many times that they feel their repentance is not worth anything. How can they be truly penitent when they return to their sinful ways over and over and over again? Such people are hard to convince to repent again, and often harder to convince that they should try to kick their sinful habits. -
