The Archbishop of Manila has invited bishops in Asian countries where Catholics are a minority to join a conference to share their experiences of practicing their faith in difficult environments.

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle has set the date for the Conference on New Evangelization in the Philippines for October.

"We want to know from them how it is to be a Church in a country where the Christian presence is less than one percent," Tagle said.

The prelate said it would be good for Filipinos to hear stories from other countries to inspire them to become missionaries.

"We Filipinos should draw inspiration from their stories so that we will strive to be missionaries in places such as in Asia that have yet to hear the Good News," Tagle said.

Most of the workshops and sessions are to be conducted in English so that participants from overseas can also echo the seminars in their countries.

The Conference on New Evangelization is  Manila Archdiocese's contribution to the celebration of the Year of Faith.

Dubbed a "Festival of Faith," the conference, which will be held from October 16 to 18 at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, will be attended by some 6,000 people.
