CONCLUSION
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam (CBCV) – Second Annual-2014 meeting was held at Nha Trang Diocese on October 27- October 30, 2014. It was hosted by the Bishop of Nha Trang, Msgr. Joseph Vo Duc Minh. The participants were Archbishops, bishops and diocesan priests coming from the three Ecclessiastical Provinces of Ha Noi, Hue and Saigon. The Bishop of Long Xuyen was absent due to health reasons.
The Bishops' Conference was pleased to welcome Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, the Pope’s representative in Vietnam and congratulated Bishop Peter Nguyen Van Kham as the Holy See’s appointed bishop of the Diocese of My Tho.
Below are the following issues deliberated by the CBCV Second Annual Meeting :
1. Archbishop Paul Bui Van Doc, Chairman of the Vietnam Episcopal Conference gave a narrative report on the Extraordinary Synod of Bishops on Family held in Rome in October 5-19, 2014.
2. To discuss on the preparation for the incoming visit to Vietnam of Cardinal Fernando Filoni, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of
Peoples in January 1, 2015.
3. The decision made to form a “Think Thank” from members of the different Conference Committees to collaborate in addressing to the pastoral needs with
regards to ancestral worship.
4. To discuss on the building of the Basilica at the Pilgrimage Center of Our Lady of La Vang and the establishment of the Catholic Academy of Vietnam.
5. To discuss on the regulation of the use and function of the Head and Management Office of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam.
6. To issue a Pastoral letter on New Evangelization Year for the all the parishes and communities in Vietnam and the Rules of the Committee on Clergy and
seminarians.
7. The decision to keep Ash Wednesday’s liturgy on the 30 Lunar Year of the Horse (30 TET) while fasting and abstinence will be on Friday 9th of the Lunar New Year.
8. To discuss on issues related to marriage, family life and the Bible.
The next Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam(CBCV) Annual Meeting I will be on Apri 13-17, 2015 to be held at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Centre of Ho Chi Minh City .
