Most Reverend Jose S. Palma,

Archbishop of Cebu,
PRESIDENT OF THE CATHOLIC BISHOPS' CONFERENCE OF PHILIPPINES

Your Grace.

We are deeply painful to hear that, just after the devastating typhoon Nari passing have killed many people and scores of people missing, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake rocks the central Philippines on Tuesday October 15th , killing hundreds of people and affecting millions others, destroying many infrastructures. Moreover, we share in your sorrow because many precious national historic cultural heritage have been gravely damaged including oldest churches of the country. You, specially brothers and sisters victims, are in our thoughts and prayers.

On behalf of bishops in CBC Vietnam and The People of God in Vietnam, joined with many others' prayers we trust many victims, catholics and non-catholics, of those natural casualties to the merciful arms of Our Heavenly Father, and be assured of our closeness in prayer to the many others still experiencing the hardship.

May the Lord in His goodness, through the invocation of St. Michael the Archangel, protect you and all the people in the Philippines, and pour out his graces on your nation so that everybody can feel His Love and your country can soon be recovered into a new situation more proper and prosperous.

Sincerely and Fratemally in Christ,

+ Phaolô Bùi Văn Đọc
Coadjutor Archbishop of HCM-city
President of Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam
