New Book on Christian Witness promotes interreligious dialogue and ecumenismThe Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue has spearheaded the publication of a new book, Christian Witness in a Multi-Religious World, to mark the 10th anniversary of the document of the same name.

In 2011, the document was jointly published by the World Council of Churches, the World Evangelical Alliance, and the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, promoting reflection on the relationship between evangelization and interreligious dialogue in complex socio-religious circumstances.

The book renews reflection on the document, which is considered one of the most widely received ecumenical texts in recent history.

Variety of Articles

Authors from various Christian denominations and Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam, contributed to the volume. They reflect on historical issues like colonialism, the evolution of missiology, and deeply-rooted conflicts or tensions; theological topics like the role of the Holy Spirit in evangelization and dialogue; socio-political issues like education and religious liberty; as well as reflections on the reception and continuing relevance of the Christian Witness document.

For a Holistic View

The Christian Witness book is a powerful tool for understanding many aspects of evangelization and interreligious dialogue. Authors also present views on bringing the seminal insights into the future in changed circumstances.

The book proposes a roadmap to convert enmity to amity through the power of dialogue and cooperation. It represents a major contribution to ecumenical and interreligious dialogue in a multi-religious world.
