Appointment of National Director of PMS in Laos and Cambodia

Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Father Gustavo Adrian Benitez, PIME (Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions) as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Laos and Cambodia for five years.


The new National Director had worked as a lay missionary in Cambodia and after his 2009 ordination has been working with PIME.

Father Benitez was born on January 28, 1972 in Argentina. After his studies in accountancy, law and languages, he had a missionary experience in Cambodia as a lay affiliated with the Society for Foreign Missions of Quebec (SME). From 2005 to 2009 he studied philosophy and theology at the International Seminar of PIME in Rome. On 14 August 2009 he was ordained a priest in Argentina. In the same year he was sent as a missionary in Cambodia, where in 2010 he was in charge of the pastoral care of young people and children in the Apostolic Vicariate of Phnom Penh and in 2012 parochial vicar in the parish of the Child Jesus in Phnom Penh.
