More calls for Gaza ceasefireThe World Health Organization has adopted a resolution urging for prompt and unobstructed humanitarian aid access to the Gaza Strip.

On Sunday, the WHO’s Executive Board convened a special session in Geneva to discuss the dire situation in the occupied Palestinian territory.

According to the organization, only 14 hospitals are partially functional. On Sunday, Carl Skau, deputy executive director of the UN World Food Programme said there was not enough food, and people were starving in Gaza.

On the ground, Hamas has threatened that not a single hostage will be allowed to leave Gaza alive unless its demands for a prisoner exchange are met.

However, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says dozens of Hamas militants have surrendered and the world is witnessing the ‘beginning of the end’ for Hamas.

General Assembly emergency session

In another development, the United Nations General Assembly will convene an emergency session to discuss Gaza on Tuesday. Earlier, the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres reiterated his appeal for a ceasefire.

Earlier, Netanyahu discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to a Kremlin statement, the discussion focused on the critical situation in the Palestine-Israel conflict zone, in particular, ‘the disastrous humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip’.
