Paul VI: Institution of the 'World Day of Prayer for Vocations'
On the 21st of April 2013 , the Fourth Sunday in Easter Pope Francis is scheduled to celebrate Holy Mass in Saint Peter’s Basilica. A mass during which he will ordain ten men to the priesthood on a date which coincides with the 50th ' World Day of Prayer for Vocations'. A day first instituted by Pope Paul VI during the Second Vatican Council.
We bring you a Vatican Radio archive recording relating to that event. It's taken from a radio message dated 11th April 1964 and is accompanied by an English translation.
It's a passage also quoted by Benedict XVI, now Pope Emeritus, in his October 2012 document relating to this year's 'World Day of Vocations' message by the theme: ‘Vocations as sign of hope founded in faith’’.
A programme presented and produced by Veronica Scarisbrick.
