Students from Bossey Ecumenical Institute visit Vatican MediaDuring the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Vatican Media welcomes students from the Institute, headquartered in Geneva and founded in 1946, which Pope Francis visited during the 70th anniversary of the World Council of Churches.

On Saturday morning, 34 students from the Graduate School of the Bossey Ecumenical Institute met with Alessandro Gisotti, vice editorial director for the Dicastery for Communication, and with Sister Bernadette Reis from Vatican Radio / Vatican News. They met in the Sala Marconi of Vatican Radio’s headquarters. It provided the students an opportunity to discuss the themes of communication at the service of ecumenism.

Reverend Choromanski, an official from the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, accompanied the students, both clergy and laity of various nationalities and Christian denominations. Each year a group of Bossey students participates in a week-long intensive program getting to know the Vatican. This year’s program will end on 25 January, when the students will participate in Pope Francis’s weekly General Audience and the celebration of Evening Prayer II for the feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle, which marks the conclusion of the Week of Prayer for Christianity. This year’s theme is “Learn to do good; seek justice” (Isaiah 1, 17).

On 21 June 2018, during his visit to the headquarters of the World Council of Churches in Geneva, Pope Francis went for lunch at the Bossey Ecumenical Institute, situated in an 18th-century castle about 25 km (15 miles) outside of the city. Founded in 1946, the Institute welcomes students and researchers from around the world for a specialization program in the theology of ecumenism, missiology, and social ethics.
