Without unity there is no future

Without unity there is no future for Christians in the Middle East. These are the words that H. B. Louis Raphael I Sako, Patriarch of Babylon for Chaldeans, wrote in a letter he addressed to H.B. Mar Dinkha IV, Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East, on the occasion of his 78th birthday, celebrated last 15 September. Patriarch Sako made the most of the opportunity offered by the congratulatory message to send the spiritual guide of the Assyrian Church an explicit invitation to start out on a new journey of dialogue to reestablish full ecclesial communion between the Chaldean Christian Community, united with the Bishop of Rome, and the Assyrian community.

In his message, Fides News Agency said, Patriarch Sako  expressed “the desire of the Chaldean Church to begin a dialogue for unity, which is the desire of Jesus. The beginning of this dialogue is urgent today, in the face of the great challenges that threaten our survival. Without unity, there is no future for us. Unity can help to keep our presence”.
